There’s nothing more exciting than the look of a room that finally comes together after an initial idea. The inspiration comes from the crib in this nursery, the accent wall and the other furniture was meant to compliment it.
I have made a custom nightstand that sits next to the crib. The nursery is meant to have a modern look to it, that Gatlin can keep as he grows. The night stand is meant to add to that modern theme. It was also a gift from myself as I kept all of my old hockey sticks that I used to play with and added into the top of the nightstand.

The accent wall shown is constructed of pine strips, stained with a Golden Oak color. The idea comes from the crib again. I loved the black on natural wood look, and decided that would also work great for the accent wall.

The last piece in Gatlin's Nursery is an old oak cabinet that I was able to refinish. I was able to match the black paint of the crib, and bring the beautiful oak drawer faces back to life. My favorite part about the dresser is how I was able to cut the base to have a similar angle as the base of the crib. This angle is also reflected in the nightstand. All of the minor details really comes together in this nursery!
